O, Capiz, the official hymn of the province, was a product of a song-writing competition spearheaded by the Department of Education and Provincial Government of Capiz, which aimed to compose an official march song that the province can call its own. The said competition was held last 2006 and the result was announced in 2007.
Out of the 25 entries composed of individuals and Capiceños based in the province, it was the entry of Charmaine O. Guartero, secondary school Music teacher from
The song was first performed during the charter anniversary of the province before the local government officials, guests, and citizens of the province. Governor Victor Tanco and the Sangguniang Panlalawigan eventually passed a resolution making it the official march song of the province.
