El Circulo Convention Center is fast becoming one of Roxas
City’s favorite venues for seminar’s birthdays, and any other bigtime event
that would come to mind. Why not? With its tranquil location and the sweeping
view that it offers 365 degrees, one can’t help but fall in love in this place. But other than the ideal place to celebrate unforgettable events,
El Circulo is home to the city’s most elevated and relaxing dining destination
in town—Cafeterraza.
I’ve been to Cafeterraza for three times already and this
time, I decided to bring my two friends, Ralph and Charmine, who were dying to
see the place. And we arrived, they just can’t help but be amazed by the serene
setting of the place.
Cafeterraza offers really affordable meals but they don’t sacrifice
the taste or the quality of service. They have this barkada meal that’s good
for four and since we were really there for the food and for the view, we wasted
no time and ordered that set that got us four hamburgers, a platter of
spaghetti and a tower of ice tea. For P499, you get to fill your tummy and
satiate your palate! Their spaghetti tasted like the ones my mother cooked—very
Pinoy tasting, with lots of meat. Their hamburger patty is mouthwatering enough
and my friends laughed out loud when I tasted the burger and said “hmmmmm…. Melts
in your mouth and not in your hands!” Meaty, indeed… for my taste. I should
also laud the café for the seemingly overflowing ice tea that they served us
because it wasn’t really meant for four but it could quench the thirst of 6-7
people, I guess?
And there’s more… were tried their luscious cakes: tres
leches…. Tres leches is my favorite staple whenever I visit the place and I love
that because of its buttery, creamy, and not-so-dragging feel for the palate…. Then
there’s this another cake—I forgot the name, sorry—with that white, yummy cream
on top, then something sweet (like yema or leche flan) in the middle and crushed
Oreo cookies on the third layer, which I find also delicious, but it didn’t beat
trest leches, though. And their crème brulee was a nicer version of the
traditional leche flan.
Situated on top of a hill at the heart of Pueblo de Panay,
the city’s emerging business district, is this restaurant that’s great for
those who are yearning for some peace before an imposing view. You can reach
the place either by getting a tricycle ride from the city, although you have to
ask the driver for a special trip and offer him a decent fare for that, or by
riding the white, Pueblo de Panay service vehicle parking outside Robinson’s
Place. Just tell the driver you’re heading to El Circulo and you'll be taken there.
