Roughly 20 minutes away from Cuartero town proper is a haven
for nature lovers—Capiz-Eco Park. And there are just so many reasons why
Capiznons should come here. In fact, this place is relatively unknown to most
of the locals, so it’s a highly recommended place for those who want to converse
with nature or enjoy holistic activities with family and friends.
It’s in an Idyll
Location
Located in Brgy. Nagba, Cuartero, Capiz, Capiz Eco-Park in a
hilly spot that overlooks hectares of trees and farmlands. The property spans
14 hectares and about nine hectares are being developed by the Provincial
Tourism and Cultural Affairs Office as the province’s premier eco-cultural
tourism destination. A pavilion is now being constructed which will serve as the
restaurant. The statues above and below are made by Capiznon artist John Alaban.
The Park has an
Organic Garden
Herbs, vegetables and ornamental plans are organically raised in the area. There’s a vermi-composting site, where dried leaves and other biodegradable wastes are thrown, which are turned into compost.
Guests can Marvel at the
Replicas of Indigenous Houses
Capiz is home to two indigenous groups—the Ati of Dumarao and
the Tumandok (Panay-Bukidnon) of Tapaz and Jamindan. The traditional Panay
Bukidnon house is made of bamboo and cogon for roofing and stands 5-6 feet above
the ground. The walls are made of woven bulo (bamboo) or dulit (dried tree
bark). Girders, beams and roof-framing
are of assorted sizes of round timbers.
Uway (rattan strips) are used to tie these house components together.

Walk is Relaxing… and Good for the Health!
