Looking for a homey place to stay in Roxas City? Plaza Central Inn, set right in Roxas City center, offers you that comfort within your budget feel. It also gives you the idea of how it is to live at a grand house in the Commonwealth era!
It was Home to a Former Governor
It was home to Eduardo Vidal Abalo, who
served as the eleventh governor of Capiz, from 1952 to 1956. He first served as
Mayor of the town of Capiz (now Roxas City) and as Provincial Board Member. Among
his accomplishments during his term included the construction of the concrete
provincial jail (now Capiz Rehabilation Center). After his retirement, he
engaged himself in farming. Later on, the home became head quarters of the
Liberal Party in Capiz.
It’s
a Quaint Commonwealth-Era Structure
Its Commonwealth era appeal is evident. The
interior remains at it was before: hardwood floor, soft lighting, vintage
furniture, and valuable paintings hanging on the wall.

The Rooms are Affordable
Prices range from P700 to P1,300. The
Governor’s Suite (P1,300) is spacious and can accommodate up to four people. It
comes with a two beds, living area, fridge, and complimentary breakfast. The
bathroom has hot and cold shower.
It’s
Next to Café 1927
There is an adjacent restaurant, Café 1927,
named after the year the house was built. The restaurant, ran by Governor
Abalo’s descendant, serves affordable yet highly recommended cuisines. A must
try is their seafood pasta. The resto’s version is the best you can taste in
the city. It’s loaded with shrimp, squid, and shells. The pasta is al dente.
The restaurant’s walls are decked with vintage memorabilia, from vintage discs,
old pictures, and even older versions of home appliances.
It’s
Right at the Heart of the City
The inn stands right behind the status of
President Manuel Roxas. There’s no need for you to travel far when planning to
see nearby sites, like the Cathedral, the Museum, or the Birthplace of
President Manuel Roxas. Baybay Beach is also easily accessible.
