Art festival to highlight indigenous, rural, and contemporary cultures


This October, Capiz will witness an art festival that would reconnect the Capisnons with their pre-historic roots.


The Green Papaya Arts Project, in partnership with the Roxas City Government under Mayor Ronnie Dadivas , Ang Panublion Museum , the Provincial Government of Capiz, and the Gerry Roxas Foundation Convention Center , and supported by the Outset Project, brings "Shri Vishayas", a cultural and artistic engagement that pays homage to our indigenous roots and presents traditional intersections with rural and contemporaneous cultures. This artistic and cultural initiatives is a highlight of the National Indigenous Peoples Month celebration here in Capiz.

Helmed by award-winning Capisnon multi-disciplinary artist and cultural worker Norberto Roldan, THE SHRI VISHAYAS PROJECT is a platform for the intersections of indigenous, rural and contemporary cultures. The project involves artists, researchers, and cultural workers seeking to establish connections with the indigenous peoples of Panay island through a series of studies, field works, exposure trips, and fora.
Furthermore, the project aims to produce new knowledge in the form of writings, videos, field recordings, research materials, and publications.
