Museum professionals and heritage workers converge for the first time in 3 years

Museum workers from Western Visayas at the Museum of Philippine Economic History

Members of the Western Visayas Museums Association, Inc. (WVAMI) held their first in-person conference since 2019.


The WVAMI General Assembly and Museum Summit was held last October 21, 2022 at the Museum of Philippine Economic History in Iloilo City, with the theme: "Embracing Uncertainty Showcasing Solidarity Hope and Recovery".


Museum workers and heritage advocate from Iloilo, Capiz, Aklan, Antique and Negros Occidental participated in the whole day program. Maricel Montero, Museum Director of the Iloilo Museum of Contemporary Arts (ILOMOCA) and Irene Magallon, Curator of Santa Barbara Centennial Museum and the association’s representative to the National Committee on Museums of the National Commission for Cultural and the Arts, were the summit’s resource persons.


“We are looking forward to more events where we can help each other and strengthen our advocacy in promoting and preserving heritage, culture and the arts,” Cheryl Anne del Rosario, Director of Ang Panublion Museum of Roxas City said. 


Ms. Del Rosario was recently elected as the association’s president and is set to take the organization's helm in 2023.
